License to Carry Class InstructionsClass Date: June 2, 2018To participate in this training a student must be able to possess a firearm legally based on both state and federal law.Cost of the course is $65.00 for members of the VFW Post 2427 it’s Auxiliary andtheir family members. Non-members cost is $85. This covers the cost of instruction (4-6 hrs.) and range time (1-2 hrs.).To sign up bring a check or cash to VFW Post 2427 office and see Jennifer who is responsible for enrolment. (281) 351-2427 She is available Mon–Fri from 0900-1400hrs. Paying with a credit card by phone is also an option.This course is not for the beginner/novice shooter. A student must be able to demonstrate proficiency by showing that he or she has the knowledge, skills and attitude to safely use a firearm, in this case a pistol. The classroom will be at the VFW 2427, and the range will be conducted in at a local residence. The location will be provided at the class. You must provide yourown transportation to each location. The student must demonstrate proficiency (knowledge, skills, and attitude) with apistol, .32 caliber or larger, at a range. There are 20 shots at 3 yards, 20 at 7 yards and 10 at 15 yards with varying time requirements. The student must scorea 70%: 150 points of 250 possible.The classroom training consists of four to six hours of lecture followed by a 25-question test that includes both true and false and multiple-choice questions. Thestudent must score a 70%: 18 correct out of the 25 questions.Equipment Requirements Classroom: Pen or pencil and paper for taking notes. Range: A pistol; semi-automatic or revolver .32 caliber or larger, (state law); 50 rounds of ammunition for the firearm you provide. I recommend 100 rounds. Let your current shooting ability be your guide. Purchase inexpensive range ammo, ball ammunition or full metal jacket (FMJ). Top of the line ammunition is not required. You will need hearing protection, eye protection. Hearing protection will be available for $2.00No shorts or capris. No open toe shoes, sandals, or shoes with high heels (discretion of the instructor). No low-cut/v-cut shirts. Note: Both range locations are austere/primitive. Students should make sure thatany bathroom needs are taken care of prior to the range.
