The Sam Houston Trail Riders, based in Montgomery, stopped in Tomball on Feb. 19 on their way to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which begins Feb. 25. Community members gathered at the Tomball Historic Depot Plaza to meet the riders.

The Sam Houston Trail is 70 miles long, according to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo information. The ride began Feb. 18, and riders will arrive in Houston’s Memorial Park on Friday, Feb. 22.

According to rodeo information, the Sam Houston Trail ride has been a rodeo tradition since its founding in February 1955, featuring 100 riders and 10 wagons in 2019.
